These DIY Monster Herb Planters are a great way to recycle and reuse plastic mugs and bottles in a fun kids crafting activity. It’s a simple, quick & engaging activity that encourages creative thought and provides enjoyment and interest for long after the crafting is complete.
This crafting activity incorporates many different elements of early learning including both fine and gross motor skills, the concept of recycling, repurposing and reusing products as well as learning about specific plants and herbs – what they require to survive and why. This is an important lesson in nature and our ability to grow our own food for creating healthy meals.
You could use any old container for this DIY Monster Herb Planters activity – and they needn’t even be herbs. How much you decorate these planters will depend on how old your little ones are and whether you intend for these to be indoors or outdoors. You could use any plant that you like – I suggest something hardy (very hardy!) and to make sure that you make holes in the bottom of plant containers that require better drainage.
