Small Room Makeover on a Small Budget...
by

(IC: homeowner)
This is a narrow little bedroom that my middle son painted a very dark grey when we moved in. The woodwork was an unremarkable pine (stained dark with inconsistencies) and there was a hideous green-teal sculpted carpet. The old bed frame was gifted to me by my mother-in-law's partner, it being the bed he and his siblings were born in after his parents immigrated to the U.S. and is at least 100 years old. The dresser was one he gave me as well--and I am planning to paint it. Got very lucky with with all the quilts at garage sales.
Paint budget: $100
Three quilts (two hand pieced and quilted): $30
Two lamps (which are going to get painted): $4
Bedside table (fern stand): $10
Quilt shelf (hate the heart): $5
Shelf on the closed door with knobs: $2
Two framed pieces: $4.50
New sheets/mattress pad: $120 (yikes)
Curtains (actually vinyl table cloth fabric from Walmart): $40
Curtain Rods: $20
Mattress/box: free (given to me by a friend)
Total: $335
The floors are going to be sanded and sealed, but that is my husband's part of the bargain. My work in this room is done (except for painting the lamps and dresser when summer comes again).
