DIY Happy Heart Wood Wall Art
I love creating homemade wood signs. You can make them say anything you want, and coordinate with any color theme for any room. Here's a cheerful sign I made for our kitchen and dining area earlier this year. It's one of my favorite decor items in my house!
I wanted to create a homemade wood sign that inspired cheerfulness in our home. I'd seen other cute signs but not in the color scheme I wanted. I consider dusty aqua to be a beautifully modern neutral and it's one of my main accent colors in my home.
I experimented a bit to come up with the best way to make my own stencils. It's easy to design your stencil words using a variety of fonts on the computer, and then print them onto standard paper. I used spray adhesive to attach the paper words to adhesive shelf paper, and then cut out the words.
Once my paint stencil letters were cut out, I stuck the homemade stencils onto the sign. I used a small ruler to make sure everything was straight and aligned, applying pressure to make sure all the edges and corners were adequately attached to my wood sign. Now it's time to paint! I filled in the words with paint, let them dry, and then carefully peeled off my homemade stencils. I had to do a bit of touch up but overall they turned out beautifully!
For a finishing touch, I distressed the sign a bit and added a whitewash style heart around the words. It would have been easier paint the heart before the words, but the heart was a last minute inspiration. I hope you enjoyed my fun happy heart DIY wood sign with homemade wood art stencils! **PIN THIS**
