School Lunch Organization Station

Once both of my kids started elementary school, and I needed to make two lunches every day, I realized I needed to come up with some sort of system of organization.
Before, I would struggle each night trying to figure out what I could scrape together to give to my son for lunch the next day. It was always stressful.
In order to reduce some of the stress of lunchmaking, I realized I needed to get everything done ahead of time. But, how and where would I do that?
I came up with a good school lunch organization station and now I'll share my lunchmaking tips with you.
First, I bought some hanging shoe organizers and hung them up in our laundry room. I got one for each kid.
I use a cube organizer for storage and a workstation. I also hung a whiteboard behind it to keep track of the lunches for each day.
Each Sunday, I get the lunches ready for the week. All of the non-refrigerated items in the shoe rack (by day).

On the whiteboard, I write the additional refrigerated items (organized by child's name and day of week). This includes yogurts, sandwiches, and other items that should not be left out. If I can make or set out the items ahead of time, I go ahead to do this and place them in the extra fridge we have in our laundry room. If there's anything I have to wait to make that day, I underline it on the whiteboard. That's my cue or reminder. The green marker indicates their snack for that day.
Overall, this lunch organization system seems to be working out well. This is now the fourth year I have been doing it.

Not only does my system save me time, it also saves money. I am not running out the store last minute. I am planning better and not wasting food.
