Growing Onions Indoors

Who doesn't like having plants for free? I know that I do. Onions are one of those "cut and come again" veggies, but it is not just spring onions that will re-grow.
All types of onions have the ability to sprout and grow again if the conditions are just right.
The kids love to join in this sort of project, too!

If your basket of onions looks like this, don't throw them away. Plant the sprouted ones!
These onions are growing in a small bowl of water and pebbles. Not only are the growing, but they are decorative too.
Sometimes an onion will start to sprout and split the skin. Use the outside part for cooking but don't throw that middle part. It will make a great plant. See more tips for growing onions on my blog.
