Carrie from Thirty Eighth Street used Midnight Sky and Tough Coat to give this buffet a new, modernized look to suit her decor!
Hi Friends! I’m stopping in to give you a quick before and after on this gorgeous carved wood buffet. Aren’t the details exquisite!? It was love at first site and in almost perfect condition. The problem? I didn’t love the wood grain or the color of the stain.
I painted the first coat in Country Chic Paint’s Midnight Sky. This paint coat was light so that the natural wood tones could peak through. Then, I mixed a little bit of Midnight Sky and a touch of Vanilla Frost to slightly lighten the color. I dry brushed this lighter color over random areas of the pieces to give it some natural highlights. Then, I wet distressed all of those yummy details and the piece was sealed with Country Chic Paint’s Tough Coat. The original wood top stayed!
I love the variations of shades and colors in this piece and those details pop even more now in this gorgeous blue hue!

Leslie Long on Feb 08, 2017I love, love, love this piece! Like you, I am not afraid to paint a wood piece if I don't like or won't use it as it is....and you nailed this one! My fiance does not believe in painting wood furniture EVER....but this might help to change his mind :)
