How to Make Some Simple but Gorgeous Paper Flowers With Maps
Who doesn't like getting flowers? They are so colourful, really brighten up the home and make you smile.
Unfortunately, some of us don't get given flowers very often and I can't afford to buy a constant supply of fresh ones. Therefore I thought it would be fun to make some everlasting flowers out of paper.
I love old maps so I decided to make my paper roses using map paper. I love how they turned out. They do make everyone smile as they see them on my table. The maps just make them look cute!
All you need is some old maps ar atlas.
Florists wire for the stems click here to see the ones I used , Floristry tape.
A glue gun and glue sticks
The first thing you need to do is to cut out your petals for each rose. (There is a template for these on my blog link at the end).
Draw round your petal template you will need 6 small, 6 medium and 6 large map petals for each rose.
Cut out these petals.
Wrap the floristry tape around the floristry wire.
For the center of your rose take a small petal curl it up tight and attach it to the end of the stem using a glue gun.
Then glue. the 5 remaining small roses to the stem one by one overlapping slightly as you go round.
Repeat with the 6 medium petals and then again with the 6 large petals.
To add a bit more colour to my roses I painted the tips of the petals with some red watercolour paint.
I think the flowers look lovely all together in a bunch or just one on their own in a small milk bottle.
They would make a lovely homemade, Valentine's day or Mothers day gift too. I also think they make gorgeous gift toppers. The flowers can also be made that extra special by using maps of places that are important to you.
