Need extra storage? Looking for a tidy yet stylish way to hang things? Try this!
So I was refolding everything in our master closet as I am wont to do come January every year when I discover my hoodie collection has grown. I swear, I don't have a hoodie problem.
Rather than refold them and take up valuable shelf space again, I remembered I had some blank wall space available behind the closet door.
Checking my stash of spare pallet wood pieces in the basement, I found two cool pieces to make hanging racks out of. Can't beat free wood!
Be sure to come by my blog, Flipping the Flip, to read all about this and so many other fun and cool projects!
Next, I ran out to our local Habitat ReStore and picked up a slew of cabinet drawer pull knobs for cheap. The most expensive here was a whopping twenty cents.
Obviously then I attached all the knob pulls to the pallet wood.
Keyhole brackets are your friend in scenarios such as this. And they worked out perfectly here. Don't do as I did though -- put the brackets on first THEN the knobs, heh, so you have a stable work surface.
Using that super handy tape trick, I was able to locate where the wall anchors needed to go in a jiffy.
Using my hoodies as a guide for distance between the racks, I placed them and hung them up.
And ta da! Hoodie racks! Great for any hanging purpose around the house indoors or out, super cheap to make, and took less than an hour!

You can even use empty thread spools instead of door knobs or even wine corks :)
