This is on the same basis that I did in high school in 1970-71 [oh wow I'm dating myself!]...I used diluted oil paints on water using multiple colors 'swirled' on top of the water & laid down contrasting colored/white/black paper to 'pick up the colors from the water's surface.' Then I hung the paper up to dry, once dried...I combined the papers together to form a small book that I used as an autograph book for my friends & teachers to sign, [I couldn't afford a year book that year] & I still have it! Beautiful swirls of oranges, yellows, blues & greens! I was an Art teacher's teaching assistant the following year & he let me teach a few classes on 'how to do it,'...he left the room & we had FUN for a full hour! [NOTE: dilute oil paints with paint thinner-aides in making 'the oil paint float on the water']
