Have you seen the latest greatest trend?? I am sure you have attended a wedding or two that has the buffet candy bar, but have you experienced the Smore’s bar yet?? Today we are going to show you how to build your own box to have for your wedding, next fabulous event or even just a good old backyard BBQ. We are excited to put ours to use this weekend for a wedding at the lovely Robert Hall Winery.
Supplies:
- 3 Fence Boards
- Wood Screws & Drill
- Sander
- Stain
- Shellac
- River rocks
- Chaffing Fuel ( 5 to 6, you can buy these at smart n final)
- Smore’s Supplies!!
First grab your fence boards and sand down at least one side (this will be the inside and believe me it will be way easier to sand when not assembled)
Now it’s tome to cut, think about how long you want your box to be? Ours will be a little over 3 feet long…time to cut (x3)
Got your bottom and two sides cut? Time to cut the ends that will finish off the long rectangular box. We made ours the exact size of the width of wood. No need for those dog ears anymore!
Have all 5 boards? 2 sides + 1 bottom + 2 ends
Time to drill the ends on, be sure to drill a release hole first to prevent the wood from splitting.
Now do this just a few more times (aka a lot more times to create your box rectangle)
Got your box? Time to sand some more!! Make it nice and smooth to the touch, all your guests will thank you for it!
And fill those screw holes with some wood putty, then dry and sand.
Now for the stain- gorgeous!! We used “Ash”
Throw a coat of clear shellac on there to seal it up.
Let it dry, fill your box with rocks (it will be heavy!!) and then place your chaffing fuel in….
Now just pop off the lids of the chaffers, light those and they should last for 2 hours while you roast away.
Now I just need to grab my smore’s stick and get to roastin’
This easy DIY is perfect for any backyard redo or decor!
Cheers to BBQ style decor and summer time!

What is a "release hole"? Is that when you predrill a pilot hole with a smaller bit?
Is it safe to eat food cooked over chafing dish fuel? Wondering what toxins might be emitted from components?
