Turquoise Beach Inspired Bar Stools

I had these bar stools that my daughter had painted and then left at my house. I decided to paint them to match my decor. I started by using an orbital sander to take off some of the paint. I didn't want all the paint off, so it would show through after I was done.
After sanding, I painted primer over the whole thing. The easiest way I have found, is to turn the stool upside down, and start at the bottom. Once that is dry, turn the stool over and paint the top, making sure to get all around the legs and bars. After the piece is dry, I painted it with Benjamin Moore, Simpy White.
After all the paint is dry, I used painters tape to make stripes across the top of the seat. I just eyeballed it to make my stripes. I made a wide one in the middle and 2 smaller ones on each side.
I made sure the edges of the tape were down good and then used a blue/turquoise color to make the stripes.
I waited for a bit to let the paint dry and then peeled off the tape. Looks good!
I let the paint dry again and then used an orbital sander to sand down to let different layers of paint show through. You can see some of the black and some wood.
