I found some heavy and good size wooden Pumpkin Door hangers at Kirklands a few weeks ago. I fell in love with them, but they needed more work to give them a WOW factor. I tried my hand at adding color and then building floral and bow attachment. The end result came out adorable and I have since made several different color schemes.
24' Pumpkin Door Hanger
This was purchased at Kirklands but any pumpkin wooden hanger you can find or eve make will be good enough.
Supplies Needed
Here are the supplies you'll be needing. Hot glue gun, heavy duty stapler, scissors, wire cutters, floral tape, pipe cleaners, zip ties, hot glue stick, wood stick
Additional supplies
You'll need paint brushes, Teal and Lavender paint from any craft store, various ribbons, & burlap roll
Greenery & Florals
I selected greenery and various florals for my attachment that will be going on top of my pumpkin. You can pick pout whatever is pleasing to your eye.
Let's paint
Paint straight brush strokes on the white areas. Be loose and spread them out.
One color
Here' s how one color should look
Adding more color
Now add the 2nd color right over. There is no need to wait for it to dry because it will create a nice blended look.
2 colors
Here's how dry brushing the 2 colors on top looks. AFTER THIS STEP, GO LOOK AT THE SHORT VIDEO ON HOW TO DO THE FLORAL AND BOW ATTACHMENT I DID ON A SIMILAR DESIGN.
Completed pumpkin
Now stand back and admire how beautiful it is :)
Here is a snippet from another video showing how to build the floral attachment.
