I wanted to put a large clock on my mantle. But I was finding the clock that were quit pricey. I already had a 28" round mirror frame but I didn't want to use a mirror on the mantle. So I took the mirror out and started thinking. Let's get started:
1. Find the length of the panel which was 18 ½”. The entire frame is 28" in diameter.
2...The panel broad that I had on hand was 16” long. So I marked at 2 5/8” from the top and 13 7/8” from the bottom. This where we need to drill holes for the 3” bolts to hold the clock in place. Take the back panel from the mirror frame and cover the panel with a fabric that will compliant your décor. Use your hot glue gun to attach the fabric to the back panel. Cut off the access fabric on the back.
3... Take a pair of sheers through the hole and punch a hole through the fabric so the bolt can come through to secure the clock.
4...Place the clock on the round back panel and put the 3” bolt through the clock, back panel broad, and the 16” broad. Attach a flat washer and then a washer nut to secure the clock.
5...Now you can take your 6” burlap and make coils in it and staple the burlap to the panel broad. (Don’t do like me and use the hot glue gun-it doesn’t work.) If you have any gaps you can free hand a few pieces of burlap to fill the space. 1. Attach the back panel of the empty mirror and attach it back as needed.
6...A close view of the final product and I like it.
Have a good D.I.Ying day!!
