I love MacKenzie Childs products, but was not blessed with a MacKenzie Childs Budget.. This was a work around using some on hand supplies.
Had the paper towel holder ( GW 3.00 ) and found a candy dish ( GW 1.19 ) the same size as the bottom.. Had torn apart a lamp so that is where the finial came from, so just needed one more piece.. Ah! an old spray top... that works

I needed a way to make some of the parts come together and still be usable. Had to get the finial on and off for restocking of Paper towels.. I had bought some Apoxie Sculpt from Hobby Lobby over the summer, but was a little intimidated to try it out.. Happy to say it went just like it should and was quite easy.. I had gone on line and watched a YouTube video or two.. Just mix the two parts together like clay and mold what you want...
I mounted a chunk of the apoxie on the top of the towel rod and with some water, rinsed the green cap from the sprayer and screwed it into place.. I removed the cap and let the Apoxie dry..
Use water as a lubricate and don't leave the top on... or it will be glued there..
I masked the towel stand best I could and used Rust-oleum to spray the bottom White.. It will help the acrylic paints to adhere better.. and since i was going for Blk and White Checks, it was now half way done... icon
Use a good brush, those hairs that start sticking out all over are why it is hard to get clean lines... I now eyeballed the design and dotted with pencil and drew guide lines for how I wanted to lay out my Checks.. and then Using metallic acrylic paints floated on some prettiness... I used Polyacrylic Clear Coat for the final finish...

I glued the green cap inside the finial, and the towel holder onto the glass bowl.. let dry... Painted some checks on the wood circle for the very bottom.
I did use some Rub n' Buff in gold to highlight some of the metal work.. Since you can use any kind of towel holder, paint it up like you choose.. It is yours...
And now I have a new Paper Towel holder in the kitchen for under $5.00... the candy dish works for me because I live in a single household and usually don't rough up the furniture, although i have just gotten a cat and not sure how rough on the furniture he will be...lol ...You can choose to not glue to the glass dish as it will add some weight and you can not pick up by the finial alone.. Unless your holder has a better way to attach the parts.. I just went for pretty..
I have been adding Checks to a few areas in the kitchen and this will add to the overall decor...
