Many people around the world celebrate Advent in preparation for Christmas. I offered a printable free Advent calendar for download celebrating the 24 days prior to Christmas. Our Christmas craft today is an Advent wreath where you light a candle on the four Sundays before Christmas. Traditionally you use a wreath with 4 candleholders, You can also add a 5th candle for Christmas day. I'm making my Advent "wreathless" candles with 4 glass cups, dollar store candles, salt, and a few Christmas decorations. You can use any candleholder you like and they don't have to match. For this look, use clear glass bowl, cup, or mug.
I had 4 old custard cups that I will use as candleholders. I bought salt for 47 cents at Aldi, 4 pack of candles, 1 silver berry spray, a card of 2 ornaments with bells and silver kiss chocolate at Dollar Tree. Total cost $4.47.
If you want to do the optional Christmas candle, use any candleholder you like. This silver deer was from Walmart. I put in him in a vintage petal bowl and poured salt.
Put a candle in each of the 4 glass cups/mugs/bowls. Pour salt around it to make it look wintery.
I cut berries off the silver berry spray and dropped around candles on the salt. You could use small glass ornaments decorative pieces in any color.
If you want to do an optional candle for Christmas Day, use any candleholder you like with a white candle. I bought this little reindeer at Walmart for $5. The pillar candle is from the dollar store.
I put the deer in a vintage petal bowl and poured salt around him. I used a few leaves and silver berries from the silver berry spray. Again you can use any kind of decoration and color.
I added the silver bells and ribbon for the dollar store ornments to the petal bowl around the deer.
I cut the bells off the ornaments and scattered them around the deer. I used the two silver ribbons by the green leaves.
I used a lacy placemat with the deer bowl in the middle and the candle cups in front. I added the chocolate silver kisses as decorations. My "wreathless" Advent candle vignette is complete. Without the deer candleholder, the cost is less than $5. The deer candleholder and candle are another $6. Time to make was about 10 minutes. You can do it faster but I like to rearrange things until I'm happy. Difficulty - extremely easy. Use you own colors to coordinate with your home. Don't have glass bowls or cups? How about 4 jar candles from the dollar store - add a few ribbons, put on a tray or platter with a few ornaments.
