Who changes their door decor with the seasons? Who gets bored creating the same old, same way, same thing as last year? Me too! This time I used a straw hat instead of a wreath I purchased for just $3, you can't beat that! A hat screaming Spring but a little too busy of a Spring for me so I painted out the blue. I had to custom match the craft paints I had to match the yellow through trial and error.
Next, I wanted to add a little personality with a word so I painted some small, wooden letters with leftover paint from my front door.
A few more little touches with the addition of a sheer bow and some purple daisies and I added a loop for hanging it at the back.
To add a little more charm to my Spring look I wanted to use a couple of galvanized cans that I had already, one vintage and one brand new. That's how I roll mixing the old in with the new whenever I can, luckily for me people give me old things because they know I'll put them to use! This was tossed in the trash, an old gas can with original artwork on it!
I turned it around and used the blank side to trace out our family initial, then painted it exterior door paint I had left over. Here's the finished look with a forsythia branch that happens to be yellow tossed in to complete the look for Spring.
Next, onward to decorate the new galvanized watering can which I free handed the word "Welcome" with paint and placed a piece of driftwood beside it. Phew, all of these details are tedious but bare with me it will all come together I promise!
Ready for the reveal? Here comes the.....wet, sloppy snow! Oh yeah I forgot to mention the calendar says Spring around here but not the forecast, generally!
Which is why the message is "Hell-loooo" ...to the weather, we are trying to stage a little Spring setup over here can't you see??
I hope I've inspired you to stay positive despite the weather setbacks and be mellow-yellow this Spring!
Seen below is the wonderful invention that I use to hang my door accents onto steel doors with, a rubber coated magnet hook, they are super awesome!

* An added side note is that I taped the trims and painted the door with an exterior latex paint previously. Brushed Nickel hardware was added at an earlier point as well to upscale the look. The silver galvanized cans I thought would tie the finishes together as well.
