I see a lot of these in Bali and Pottery Barn used to have them for a children’s room but they no longer sell them. So I thought- well maybe I could make one and make it easily and a lot cheaper than buying I online!
his fun feather design was originally worn by tribal chiefs and dignitaries in the Cameroonian kingdoms. Use them to add bright pops of color and playful style to kids’ spaces.
I started with a sea grass place mate which was $3 at Kmart
I also picked a boa which I bought at spotlight but are available in most stores that sell dress up things they’re were loads of colours to pick from but as I am going for a beach shabby style in my home I stuck to white
And a heat glue gun was all I needed and I found it easier to put glue every 2 inches on the place mat and press till I went all the way around . once I reached we’re i had started I kept going but moved inside about 1.5 inches to do the 2nd round and by the time I had got back to the same point I had just enough of the boa to reach at the start of the boa there was a little loop which I left hanging out slightly so I can use that to hang the juju on the wall
I then need to find something to add in the centre ie shells or work out how now to hold back the feathers to e pose the sea grass
And this is the final result ;) I hope you like it! (and be careful of that heat glue gun my fingers are still ouchy)
Here’s another same as above but this time I added a few light blue/teal feather just heat glue gun and added it inbewtween the white
Here is a pic of just randomly placing the blue feathers
add as many as you like
Here I cut a piece of cardboard to fit in the centre and randomly glued shells to fill it up then I turned it over covered it with the heat glue gun glue and pressed into the centre of the placemat
And here is My finished juju

It's pretty, Get some silicone finger tips so you don't burn your fingers with the hot glue.
