I love bringing old furniture back to life with paint. There is nothing wrong with this vintage telephone bench. It is just dated. But nothing a fresh coat of paint couldn’t fix.
The bench had a gloss so I sanded the flat areas.  After that, I wiped it down with a solution of white cleaning vinegar and water.  Then I used deglosser on all of the spindles and legs.
Once the piece was clean I could start painting this sweet telephone bench.  I always take a piece of furniture apart if possible.  It makes painting it so much easier.  I started with the legs.  Then proceeded to the bench itself.
It got two coats of a white mineral paint.  It had good coverage but when I got to the bench I thinned it down.  That is just my personal preference.  I sanded down the bench using a very fine sandpaper.  I had to be very careful around the curved parts because I didn’t want to do a heavy distressing.  I was very happy that that was no bleed through except for a couple spots.  I was able to repaint those areas and it took care of the problem.
After I felt it was sanded smooth the vintage telephone bench was waxed.  The crisp white paint freshened up the bench and gives it a new updated look.
So if you ever see one of these beauties, just know you can update it with a fresh, clean coat of white paint.
