I think it's great but the just 17 for the year. 1817, 1917, 2017 ???? I'm assuming 2017 This sign along with the story behind it would be something nice to pass down through the generations it should have the year fully written out. Please take this as a compliment to your work and not a criticism.

I love the overall project and end product so much! It is really neat how you attached the hinges on the finish strip for needed space and stability. How lucky you are to have this vintage home that was your grandparent's home. There must be many lovely memories of playing here in the past. it was also meaningful that you included the name of your other set of grandparents; that makes it your home, now. Along with that, you have created a new family "tradition"! One other thought; if your parents are living and their house is not currently named, you might give a little thought to surprising them with a sign that would be meaningful to them!

That's a lovely idea, thank you so much for coming by Joyce! Yes, I am so glad to be here in my grandparents' home, it's felt like home my whole life and now being here just feels right.

First...OMG how creative and it came out nearly perfect, however, couldn’t you have repainted the duck and hung the “new” sign under that, or was it just not high enough and would someone bang their head on it?

Why didn’t you paint the siding before hanging ? I think the sign looks awesome but, the weathered siding does it no justice.
