Giving a Plain Wooden Chair a Cute Floral Make Over

This wooden chair didn't match any others in our house and wasn't getting much use. There was no seat cushion, and it looked quite plain overall. We gave it a simple makeover using foam, ribbon, and fabric. The end result was a pretty desk chair that matched beautifully with a floral-themed bedroom.
The chair that we used for this project was in decent condition and was nice and sturdy, even though it was quite old and unloved. Since we didn't need to make any changes to the actual body of the chair, the first step was to measure the seat.
Once we'd measured the seat of the chair, we cut a piece of foam to the correct size, placing it on top of the chair to make sure it fitted perfectly. We chose foam that was thick enough to create a nice comfortable seat.
Next, we stretched our floral fabric tightly over the foam, using a staple gun to secure it in place underneath the chair. Around the edge of the seat, we used fabric glue to attach some white ribbon with pink detail.

We then used the same pink and white ribbon to tie a pretty bow to the top left of the chair. This is a small detail but it makes a big difference to the overall look of the project.

A chair like this works well in room without too much color or pattern going on to begin with - unless you're okay with things looking quite busy. The room we put the finished chair in had hardwood flooring, and the two complemented each other really nicely.

Since this makeover is so simple, it's really easy to update it using different kinds of fabric and ribbon as your tastes change.

Very cute. I understand that it complements your flooring ... I’m imaging it painted a dusty light rose color but then I love roses and then doing the rest as you did. Thankyou for this idea!
