DIY Chandelier Candle Covers, With Scrapbook Paper and Mod Podge
The candle covers on my vintage chandelier were all brittle and chipping, but I couldn't find the right replacement pieces. So I opted to make my own, using decorative scrapbook paper and Mod Podge. So easy!
After removing the bulb and existing candle covers, use them as a template to cut your scrapbook paper.
Measure the height and length of the scrapbook paper. Make sure the pattern or script on your paper is in the right direction for when you put the cover back on the chandelier.
Using a paper cutter helps get a nice straight edge.
Paint mod podge on one edge of the paper, and roll it around the old candle cover tightly.
Line the edges up carefully before gluing the end down. I had to do this one twice.
Cover the whole thing with mod podge and let dry.
Be sure to leave a small space between the paper and the bulb. I don't think they're a fire hazard, once they're sealed with mod podge, but I don't want to find out!

Vicki Maxson on Aug 28, 2014I used those plastic shower curtain covers. They work too. Although I really like the choices you would have with scrapbook paper!
