The Fourth of July—also known as Independence Day or July 4th—has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941. From 1776 to the present day, July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American independence, with festivities ranging from fireworks, parades and concerts to more casual family gatherings and barbecues. Its also right around my Birthday so every year I have a party! Doing decorations for the 4th of July has always been fun! This year I'm adding my number 4 to the collection. So lets get started.

Supplies you'll need:
paper
paint brush
paint (red)
mod podge
wood number 4
scissor
razor
ribbon

Begin by painting the sides and back of the number 4 with your red paint.
Once you have let the red dry on the 4 you will need to pick a paper you like.
I decided on the blue star paper. You will want to cover the entire number 4 with the mod podge, I used matt finish. Then you will lay the paper of your choice and cover the whole number. You'll need a credit card to press the air bubbles out and smooth the paper on the whole project so you don't get wrinkles.
After the mod podge dries you will cut with your scissors and possibly a razor along the remaining paper that over hangs around the edges.
I found the razor could get a bit closer to the edges.
Once the paper is covered and dry, you will get your wax
I used Annie Sloan dark wax to apply to the cut edges. This step gives an appearance of looking aged. Then I tie some ribbon around the 4 a few times and add a bow, This adds a little texture and character to the piece. Again this is a simple project the just adds some fun to a sideboard. However it could be hung on a wall also.
Happy 4th of July! My project stands strong and independent on my sideboard., just like our country. May everyone have a safe and fun fourth of July. Make sure to check out Gilbert Marketplace for more fun items.
