Outdoor Patio on a Budget

We have a great backyard but have never really put a ton of effort into our patio. Most of the furniture and pieces out there had been thrifted or found at garage sale and had been overly used. This year, we decided to put a bit of time and effort into our patio space to see if we could get a space that we really loved.
The first thing that we did was power wash the patio. This makes such a huge difference and really doesn't take that long. After that, I cleaned the windows and the outdoor sconces. Just having a fresh, clean area helped so much!

A few years ago, I made a little wooden planter table and it's still going strong. So, that got brought out of hiding as well as some huge planters.
We couldn't afford to replace all of our old furniture, so instead of focusing on that, I choose to add some more patio plants for interest. I love adding hanging planters and this geometric one is a favorite!

The outdoor couch was a garage sale find from a long time ago. I've recovered the cushion a few times and it's holding up ok.
One of the big things that we did a few years ago was to change out our mulch with river rock. You can read about the process here. It's been an amazing change for us.

The table and chairs are new this year and I really love them. I love the look of a wood table and chairs outside but I knew that I didn't need one more thing to maintain. We live in Missouri so we get all seasons. I knew that if I went with wood, then it I'd have to stain, seal and cover throughout the year. This set, should be good to go for quite some time.
Eventually, we'd love to build a fireplace as well as a small outdoor kitchen but that's realistically on the 10 year plan. More short-term, we'd love to invest in a sectional to seat more people. We love hosting out in the back so I think a sectional would be a good fit going forward.

I put together a video of our space this year. You'll get a look at two of my favorite things out back... our lime tree as well as our tangerine tree. I'm hoping for a good fruit production this year. Cross your fingers for me! =)
