I found this beautiful, old wicker bassinet on the side of the road.
Hubby asks, what the heck do you need that for? I replied you'll see.
He just purchased a truck so, we could do household things easier. I said, how exciting! Our first load. The look from him was precious.
Then we passed the flower stand and we stopped to get 2 trays or 8 - 4 pack of flowers.
That morning, I was sad because I had not planted any flowers yet and it was June.
I guess the inspiration was waiting for this.
I purchased one can of clear, satin, outdoor sealent. To give the paint finish extra durable finish since it will be out side.
I purchased three cans of white paint to give a fresh coat and seal the wood.
It is in very nice shape and I would like it to last a few years.
Brushing the wicker clean of cob webs and dirt to make sure the paint would stick well.
I did think to keep it the old color and just do the sealant but the fresh coat of paint just made it pop.
Trying to spray paint it off of the ground, didn't last long because it had to be turned over. I was asked by the hubby to use a ground cover next time. Sorry honey!

The base has wheels on it so it was easy to roll around. It's also nice to have the legs out of dirt so it won't rot.
I also thought the base can be used for another project as it's super sturdy.
Here it is all new, white, painted & sealed.
To place flowers in the bassinet, I could have filled it with dirt or even lined it but I didn't want it to rot with watering.
So, I planted in last years plastic window box planters that I had.
When I placed the planters inside they fit perfectly but too far down and the flowers couldn't be seen.
Last summer, I found these chimney liners and had grand ideas but this is a better idea to lift the boxes to the right height.
As the boxes are white they blend into the background.
I couldn't have planned this any better.
Finding a place to put it is always a chore.
Hubby likes it but doesn't like to move things when mowing.
The front garden was perfect as a plant didn't grow this year so over the empty spot it went!
Road side view that others will see.
This is one of my most fun projects.
Time to fill the bird bath!
