Perking up a personal space should be easy, right? Well, mine is used by different members of the family as a place to open mail, play with the portable fairy gardens, catch a catnap, drop extra pillows and throws, and leave anything they can’t find another space for. That doesn’t count me! I like to sit in the chair while I drink a cup of green tea, read my Bible, have my devotion and pray, look at the sunlight and pretty objects, and read a good book. I also sit here during a “sick headache”, when I need a soothing place for silence and only low light. Let’s see if we can change the nook for my pleasure.

Clean the area of decor, dust, and dinosaurs. That’s what I had to do. The alcove is next to our bed, but there is enough room to walk through. The chair is a LaZyBoy from the living room, and it is a recliner. The chest of drawers is filled with hubby’s clothes. And the table between is an electric heater with an LCD fireplace flame that does not get too hot for the leather and wood. I must keep the side windows covered and the blinds closed except in the middle of the day.
This is as bright as this window gets, since the blinds are always closed. This window looks over our neighbor’s backyard. We have holly bushes with hard thorns just outside the window. This is my Bible table (on top of an electric fireplace), and a nice place for a big cup of cocoa. The pillow cover I got from Wish.com. It is pulled over two orthopedic cushions, And it can be turned in different directions to fit the angles in my body. The cushion is in a fish scale (or mermaid scale) design that mirrors the colors in the little metal heart between the curtains.

I actually had a credit for a year on overstock.com. for $30. So I finally ordered a three piece candle set with recessed battery flames inside. They are different heights, and come with a remote control. They will glow beautifully, day and night—when I get nine triple A batteries!

I placed the medium candle on the table, and the large and small candles on the scarf, given to me as a present, on the chest of drawers. The blue and white candle holder is colored glass, forming a cross of different colors on each side, with a battery votive inside, and made by my son. The big planter bowl has been several things, but now holds my homemade rose potpourri.

And here is my beautiful getaway space, ready for a nap, or an hour of reading
