This was given to me. And with everyone who answer my question on here what to do with it I was able to make it into a cool message board.
It's also first time using epoxy instead of just craft glue. I still need super glue but it was only for holding the role I had to stay in placed.challenge your self to use products or items you haven't use before. Also items around the house works to. And because I'm a swimmer I use the twine with my clothes pins to hang my goggles and swim cap. And with summer ending it makes it useful for my summer left overs..
Started with this old replica wash board. It was not in the best condition. Had some cracks and stains. But I was up to the challenge and I do say so myself it came out nice and will make a great birthday gift for a friend I have in mind. It really helps asking questions on here what to do with items you may not have a use for or turn it into something other than what it was originally intended for.
I gather all my supplies I thought what I would need of use. I forgot to grab the epoxy out of my glue box. I work with two tv trays because it's easier for me. One holds the supplies while the other I use for working on my project. Oh have rubber gloves or nail polish remover available when using super glue.
I know some will be shock I painted this but it's not like it's worth anything because of the cracks and stains. Also wanted to be useful. I used the same colors to bring out the faded words and pictures.I put a coat of epoxy on to seal the paint even though can't tell from the picture. I also painted both sides. I forgot to include a picture of the back side but since it won't be seen I just worked real hard on the front side. Although the type of craft paint I used dried real fast it took me about an hour to do because I'm a little of a perfectionist..Also the detail with the lettering and picture so not to go out of line.
I used epoxy also to stick some leaves on the metal part and then top it with artificial grass and added the artificial flowers. Also used some ceramic flowers that I painted last year. The turtle was last. There are some pink little birds hidden in the flowers.
Next I used jute twine/ string and wrapped the legs. The twine real thin so had to be careful not to pull to tight or it would break. I used the thick rope to hang it when the super glue dried. The clothes pins have magnets on them in the back. (they are for hanging pictures and came with a wire)I got these online with the amazon card I received from Home. If you just like this as it is and don't need a message board just remove the clothes pins.my completed project and the first one for the month. The price for this project will vary. I had a lot of this stuff on hand. Wash boards can be found online if you Google it.
