Take a look at our fireplace makeover that we completed with no prior renovation experience. We wanted to make the fireplace the grand focal point of the room like it should be. All materials were purchased at our local big box store and were relatively easy to install.

We added pillars, wood planking and stone.

Here's the before of the fireplace. The trim and tile weren't our style and didn't say "home" to us.

Here's a close up of the details, like the mantle, stonework and wood planking.

And the finished product! We are so thrilled with our new fireplace.

Beautiful! What kind of stone did you use? Was placing stones difficult?

I so much want to redo my fireplace! AND I want it to look JUST LIKE THIS! I love the boards above and the black band around the opening making it unnecessary to worry about coverings near fire area. The entire back wall of my den is brick and I would love to make it boards!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Jeanette! I'm sure that a whole wall of wood planking would be just lovely. I know I can't get enough of it!
