Backyard Shed Makeover
Have you ever wanted to transform a shed? Our home is a late-sixties tri-level that had an attached shed on the home. Although the shed is attached to our home, you do have to step outside to access it, but it is close enough that easy access is possible. This spot was just an overflow of junk from our garage and we wanted to transform it into a bonus room for our home.
We added drywall, a textured ceiling, a skylight to add in more light, a glass door, installed track lighting, and applied epoxy paint to the floor. We also added a unit to heat & cool the space.
We added an outdoor daybed that could act as the focal point of the room.
A bar was installed that the kids could color, read, or work on homework in a quiet space. In the evening, this can double as an entertaining location.
What I really love is that the bar can also be folded flat to the wall, allowing for more space when not in use, or (if you are like me) a dance floor.
A built-in was added behind the door for storage and to maximize this small 8x12 space as much as possible. I'm proud that we did not waste a single bit of space.
I hope you like this short tour of our little shed. If you would like to see more of our space please visit my blog for paint color ideas, items to outfit your own backyard shed, and more inspiration for small space living!
