Farmhouse Valentine's Day Banner...
I have three little words...TARGET. DOLLAR. SPOT.
I don't know about you guys, but I love this little area of the store. I always find some cute things for the home or for a craft project...which is where I found my supplies for this craft project.
I have been working on expanding my crafting skills, but when I saw these two items...paper hearts and a buffalo check banner...
...I knew that I could create a quick and easy project for Valentine's Day for under $10.00.
I grabbed my items, made a quick purchase, came home and got to work. I didn't want my enthusiasm over my little treasures to fade...you know, striking while the iron is hot! I looked in my craft cabinet...okay, looked on my craft shelf...well, okay, looked in my craft basket for the Elmer's glue. I placed a piece of posterboard down to protect my countertops...I was using glue after all.
I decided on how I wanted to place my hearts on the banner and started gluing. I knew I didn't want soggy, puffy hearts, so I used a minimal amount of glue on each heart.
I made sure to press each glue-filled heart down firmly on the buffalo check banner. I wanted to make sure my paper would stick to the material. After getting each heart attached to the banner, I let it dry for a few hours before hanging it on the fireplace mantel.
Once it was dry, I used two of my gold-colored push pins to hang the banner. I cannot tell you how proud I am of this banner.
It was easy to make and I like the way it looks on our sweet fireplace mantel. I try to keep decorations on the mantel simple because I love the look of our fireplace and don't want to cover the vintage wood.
This is a quick project, stores easily (folds up) and is a great project for the kids! To see more photos, hop on over to my blog! Happy crafting!
