Upcycling a Ferrero Roche Box Into Windowsill Planter
Do you love chocolate? Have empty Ferrero Roche boxes? The box and lid can easily be transformed into a stylish windowsill planter for herbs.
Start by using white chalk paint spray to evenly coat the box. It is best to build up light layers to prevent drips of paint.
To make the windowsill box drip tray spray paint the lid with black chalk paint.
It seems only fitting to add to add some gold bling to the planter. Add a diagonal strip of PVA glue to the two oblong sides and the adjoining square side.
Allow to dry for five to ten minutes. Press gold leaf onto the glued areas. If you would like a solid gold leaf effect allow to fully dry, if you prefer a dappled effect leave for a few minutes then rub with your finger.
Drill small drainage holes in the base of your planter to allow your plants to draw water from the drip tray.
If you are adding herbs to your planter label your drip tray with a chalk pen. Then add your herbs and enjoy your stylish windowsill planter.

Have a question about this project?
Wouldn’t the chemicals from the chalk paint seep into the herbs? Probably better off using a terracotta or glazed planter.
