Before I get started on the creative process I'd like to refer you to this link on the cleaning process that takes place beforehand. https://www.hometalk.com/diy/craft/seasonal-decor/project-guide-preparing-acorns-and-pine-cones-for-fall-decorating-10388902With that taken care of I can start off by saying how easy, fun and personalized this project is and you can make it on a dime! You'll need craft paints, pine cones, an old toothbrush and a vase, basket or holder of your choice to display your pine cones in. If you don't have any of the other accents I use in my post the pine cones will still look great all on their own!
First off I wanted to just add to my yard sale basket find, just a little something to change up the look. I often do this out of boredom and not necessity with an item because as seen here, it looks fine either way.The only thing that I glued was the seam at the back because heh, by Spring I may be bored with the burlap band and it will be easy to remove, always plan ahead.
To paint the cones I used my handy, dandy old toothbrush because it has such a stiff bristle it paints in a hit and miss fashion which was what I was aiming for. I simply brushed my way along the edges so as to cover just the tips of the cones.
The video explains two methods of painting the tips only, either when the cones are closed or opened up and how your color choice is entirely up to you!

I like chosing my color palette according to the season and my decor colors. So Fall the automatic choice was red and orange tips with a few Fall leaves added in to mimic the Fall scene.🍁
I love Blue Spruce trees and I have shades of its color in my home decor so I chose turquoise and white...the color of the Winter precipitation that I won't say out loud!😣 I add in a few small, flower stems that also looked like that word I won't say.😥
So Spring arrives here with stuff still on the ground meanwhile yellow forsythia trees bloom so those two colors inspired my Spring basket. I painted a few cones with a Chartreuse and kept the white tipped Winter cones there and aadded in few sprigs of soft lambs ears.
So an afternoon to collect and clean the pine cones, an hour to brush on all of the colors and just a few minutes to assemble and that's how fast and easy this was! Here is the basket in my back entry sitting pretty with other Fall accents, hmm I wonder what I'll display in it for Winter? Got it! Spring? Got that too! I don't have to fuss over this anymore until Summer and I have three different looking baskets to look at until then!
