It depends on what they are made of. If they are laminate, here's a link:

I would go with a kit, especially if you haven't done anything like this before. RustOleum is a reliable brand and I've had good luck with their other kits (tub & tile).
Here is a hometalk link for diy countertop painting.

We painted our COUNTERTOPS!! The system we used is super durable, no chipping, and still looks brand new one year later.
I used ENVIROTEX resin. Totally ok around food and they use it on bar tops. I painted my kitchen countertops with stone spray and made it look granite like. Then poured envirotex resin on top of it. You might want to make a frame for the sides of the countertop because the edges are tricky to get a smooth finish. But whatever you do, cover the lower cabinets with plastic because when it gets poured, it will drip down off the sides. Follow the directions on the box and you will love the result. For a few years after we did it, people thought it was granite. Then you use a blow torch to get all the bubbles out. Google tutorials. It's a great product and our countertops have held up for years now. I think we used 5-6 boxes of envirotex for our countertops. Totalling around $300. hope this helps. It definitely has extended our old pink laminate countertops for another 5-6 years before we can afford real granite or quartz. Good Luck!
Keep in mind that any painting countertop kit is meant to be a temporary decor finish, not permanent. Detailed preparation, and using best quality materials is the key to maximum success.
Hi ! I painted my ugly dated countertops ! I had butcher block patterned Formica , going in the wrong direction !!! I used advance paint by Benjamin Moore and their primer . To prep the counter I cleaned well , then used Krud Kutter de glosser. After that I lightly scuffed it with a sanding sponge . Then wipe it down , making sure that any dust is wiped off . Once dry do one coat of primer , then 2 coats of paint making sure each coat is dry before starting the next coat . I am careful with them and don't cut anything without using a cutting board and put something down to protect it from a hot pan or pot . My countertops have held up well for almost 3 years , until I stupidly used a saw to cut something and cut right through what I had played on the countertop to protect them , duh !!! I just rolled out a fresh coat of paint , since I had plenty left over . As for the texture , my Formica was smooth , but when I rolled the paint on , it changed the texture to a lightly grainy texture , I am very happy with it !

Here is how I did it (I did it twice and used a different finish each time): https://thehoneycombhome.com/how-to-paint-kitchen-countertops/ and https://thehoneycombhome.com/diy-granite-countertops-yes-really/
I would buy a Giani Kit to redo your countertops. It is fairly easy to use and comes with everything you need. This is a very time consuming job.
We used a Giani kit and it worked really well. It's a really inexpensive way to change the look of your kitchen.

Hi! I would suggest a kit like Gianni makes, or Rustoleum. I've used a Rustoleum kit before and it worked well. Good luck!
