Hi Kathy, hope this information helps you clean your penny's. Good luck with your project. For many pennies, one tablespoon (15 g) of salt in 1/2 cup (4 oz) of vinegar will get the job done. Stir the mixture to dissolve the salt. If you don't have vinegar, use lemon or even orange juice. Copper oxide (the gunk on your pennies) dissolves in weak acid, and that's just what all three of these liquids are.Sep 26, 2019

5 Easy Ways to Clean Pennies - wikiHow
Hi peggy. Thank you 4 ur reply. Will defo do that. No scrubbing required!
Hi Kathy: Try this:
1/4 cup of white vinegar
1 teaspoon of salt
a non-metal bowl
a bowl of water for rinsing.
Mix the vinegar and salt in a bowl and drop in the pennies, a few at a time. You can double or triple this recipe to do more pennies. Don't let the pennies overlap, but put them in in a single layer. Let them sit for about 30 seconds then put them in a bowl of water and dry them off. This should do it :) Good luck
Glass bowl with 1/2 cup vinegar and 2 teaspoons of salt. Stir. Dip in the penny. Wash and dry.
Put them in a bowl and cover them with ketchup. After an hour or so take them out, rinse, scrub with a toothbrush if necessary.
Vinegar and a bit of salt will work every time. Mix depending on how much you need. About a cup of vinegar and a tablespoon of salt. Let the coins soak in the solution to make your pennies shine. They may not all turn out the same.
