Scrap Wood Necklace Holder
While looking on Pinterest for a better way to display my necklaces, I found several options that I could make with scrap wood. Since I already have a square earring holder, I wanted the necklace rack to hang vertically, rather than horizontally, so I added my own spin on the ones I found by using staggered pegs.
Scrap wood (sized to desired length)
Dowel (12" long for 6 pegs)
Wood glue
Paint
Painters tape
Drill/drill bit
I taped off a geometric shape on the piece of wood and painted two thin coats on the areas that I wanted painted and let dry completely.
Once the paint has dried, remove the tape.
I measured the dowel into (6) 1 1/2" pieces and cut with a chop saw, sanding the ends lightly to remove any sharp edges.
Measure where you want the pegs to go and mark them with a pencil for drilling. I staggered mine to allow for a variety of necklace lengths.
I used a bit the same size as my dowel to drill the holes in the board. I only drilled about 3/4 of the way through so the pegs would sit in the holes.
I used a dab of wood glue in each of the holes to hold the pegs in place.
Once the wood glue is dry, add a picture hanger to the back of the piece and hang on the wall. Add your necklaces and enjoy!
The best part is that it was free for me since I used materials I already had on hand!

I DIY’d a closet makeover and have a narrow space in front between the door and shelves. This is perfect for that space! So many fun ways to customize this project. I’m going to make a “Victorian” necklace hanger! Thank you for your clever idea!
