6" hard to see step down
Hard to see step down?
I have a hard to see 6" down step in 3 locations in my recently purchased house. I love the tile, but worried about having people fall when they visit. Need suggestions to make it easier to see the step down without replacing the tile.

Could you put carpet down in the sunken area? A change of color and texture would help people to see it.
Add a floor mat or small rug. You could also add a line of tape along the edge but that might look weird
A rug or mat is a good idea, just be sure to put an anti-slip mat under it.
How about indirect lighting. Something either like they use for deck stairs or maybe an inconspicuous LED strip.
How about a vinyl transfer with a beautiful design, put a protective coating over it. Iron Orchid makes some nice ones.

Raise the floor so it is all one level or height. If someone trips or falls and breaks something you could be sued.
Vinyl transfer or stencil a design along the bottom of the step.
I would not advise to put a small rug or mat, as these are a slip hazard, especially on a glossy floor. Someone could get seriously injured even with a 'little fall'. Do not trust rubber on the bottom or tape to keep the mat safely anchored in place.
Tape on the edges of the steps.
I would suggest that you purchase a quality brand name (such as 3M) of textured rubber anti-slip stripping. It is sold for stair treads or for bathroom floors but is also available in marine supply shops as it is used in boats.
Different colors and widths are available, see examples below.
Using a rubber brayer will help ensure optimal adherence to the tile.
Hello,
Add a Hazzard tape to the edge of the steps. Available at DIY's. Best wishes.
You can add a black rubber strip to the edge to prevent them from falling.

Do you want to level the floor, that step down is tricky.
Hi Ana, you can look for pretty vinyl stick on tiles that match your color scheme and stick them on the stair upriser (no idea if that's the right word) portion. The patterns should reflect downward and you'll be able to distinguish the up rise easier.
You could mark it with a piece of colored tape. May not look great, but it will maintain the integrity of the tile.
You could use bright colored tape (not the prettiest idea, but practical), or you can add stick on tiles that have patterns that make them easier to see.

I would add some type of stencil to the riser so it draws the eye and makes one aware of existence of stair. Choose your color and design that compliments your decor.
Stenciled Stairs Worth Staring At!
How about just some area rugs where you step down to. That when they won't slip when they step down.
I would create a little ramp like slope with similar tiles .. that will for sure help
