DIY Shelves
Looking for something to add to a blank wall? Open shelving is a perfect solution!! They’re fun to style all kinds of decor, look perfect in almost any space and are super easy to DIY!
I started out with a 1 x 6 X 6 piece of pine wood and cut it down to two 24 inch pieces.
For the brackets I used 3/4 inch square dowels. For 2 shelves I needed 4 brackets.
I cut 4 pieces of the dowel at 5 1/2 inches and 4 more at 4 1/2 inches. Using my nail gun and wood glue I attached the 2 lengths to make 4 brackets.
I then cut an angled piece for additional support. I attached them to the brackets using wood glue and my nail gun.
I painted the shelves and brackets in Antique White and distressed them.
I pre drilled countersunk holes in them to avoid splitting them when attaching them to the wall.
They’re hung up. I love open shelves.
Finished! So cute and so easy!! I love adding open shelving. They’re so versatile and fun to style!
