DIY Embroidered Throw Pillow

I’m going to show you guys an easy way to turn a pillow case sham into a DIY Throw Pillow Cover. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, and finally got around to making it happen. You can do this with pretty much any envelope style pillow sham you have lying around the house. And this is the perfect reason to keep your eyes peeled at thrift stores!

This is the pillow sham I used for this project. You can use any sham as long as it has the envelope back.

Turn your pillow shame inside out. Place a throw pillow in the center of your pillow sham so you know what size you need.

You can mark the area on your pillow if you need to. You are going to sew a complete square on your pillow case. I used a sewing machine for this part.

Cut off extra fabric.

Turn the pillow right-side out.

You can leave your pillow cover as-is, but I knew from the beginning I would be adding some embroidery. I added a border to give my pillow a nice, finished look.

This looks much better. I still needed something more on this pillow so I decided to add a few hearts. You can place an embroidery hoop on your pillow cover to help with bunching.

When you’re finished decorating, place a throw pillow inside and enjoy!
