I've got a newly built retaining wall around a tree. I can't get anytype of scrunbs to grow in it, so I want to make some round shrubs and topiay to put in it.
I want 3 of these about 18" diameter.
2 of these... Top ball being around 10" diameter...
Hello A styrofoam ball and a hot glue pot construction might be suggested. Sadly the greenery will fade and degrade with outdoor uv exposure...a temporary topiary sadly.
Maybe try using different types of Artificial Grass Glued or Wired onto a former in the shape you are looking to make. Artificial grasses are now being made in colours too! You could trim them to suit too. Have fun. Try with some off cuts!!
Some of the patterns of the above look like you could do them yourself with a solid base-you could plant it in the ground to have support from the wind. or make it out of concrete. I would not set the greenery into concrete because you might have to replace them over time.

Thank You... I looked at some of these but didn't want to spend that kind of money for just one shrub/topiary. I would spend that much to make all 5, but not just 1. Thank You again.
No I haven't... Where they are located they'd only get very early morning sun and maybe very little that filters through the tree. But Thank You for the idea.
Hi Laurie: Are you opposed to Hostas? They require very little sun:) Check this site for some shade loving plants, maybe they will fit the bill for you.

Start with a foam ball, a pot and a dowel for the basic construction. Here's a link with more details:
