Leather Wrapped Vase
Give your old vases new life with leather and wood tags!
We’ve all got those random vases laying around. And if you don’t, a quick trip to the thrift store will get you all set up. I picked these up for $1.99 each and found the rest of my materials in my craft stash. If you aren’t someone who keeps random
craft supplies, then a bag of wooden tags is less than $10 on Amazon and some string and faux leather or fabric will set you back another $10ish.
These vases are staggered sizes and coordinate perfectly!
All of these things I had on hand. The gold leaves are from a pack of jewelry making supplies from 10 years ago! Here are some similar.
Step 1.
First I had to sew my fabric together because it wasn’t long enough to fit all the way around the vase.
Step 2.
Next I marked where it would meet and cut. Leave a little extra so you have enough to overlap.
Step 3.
Sew together to make a circle. This is a little tricky as it’s a small area to work with.
Step 4.
Slide your covers onto the vases.
Step 5.
Draw your designs on your wooden tags! I have lots of these tags so I plan to swap them out for different seasons.
Step 6.
String! Run the string through the hole and make a larks head knot.
Wrap your string around the vase and tie a knot. Cut off excess if you would like to.
That’s it! Then you can fill them with a candle or some water and fresh stems!
And enjoy a festive little scene with your new modern vases.
