Turning an old book into a Christmas decoration

Recently in my neighbourhoods, people as transformed one of the park's benches to an exchange pad. Free to take what you want or need and place something else. There is a sign stating that "one man's trash is another man's treasure", ain't it true?

Growing up, my friends and I were obsessed with Sabrina, the teenage witch. I mean, magic powers, who would not want that?

When I saw that book there, I had to grab it. I was tempted to read it but was afraid that the "magic" is not timeless.

So folding it into a Christmas tree, it is!

I began by calculating the pages of the book (including those not marked at the end and beginning). Once I divided it by 2 and found the centre of the book, I broke the spine with force.

Then, I decided that my tree will be approximately 2/3 of the book, leaving only a few pages per side. My book is not thick, less than 250 pages in total. I calculated that I would be around 50 pages to fold, from the centre, making it a total of 100 pages. I marked the pages accordingly.

First, I folded from the right corner to the centre,

And again, from the right to the centre (same page)

The page is now longer than the book; I folded it, aligning it to the edge of the book, creating a small triangle,

the triangle I tucked inside the fold.

I turn the page and folded the next one. Then, I basically repeated those steps 99 times.

After a while, I got into a rhythm...

When I finished, I used a metal paper clip to tighten it up.

Then, I added strips of red and green yarn, using a hot glue gun.

On top, I added an origami star and used a marker to paint it red.

And it was done.
