How can I color vanity globes?
I want to add color to my vanity light globes. Can I use alcohol ink, glass paint, or what? I need the color to be transparent and permanent, and able to take the heat of the 60 watt bulbs.

Be sure to use the right paint - one made for glass. I've read that using the wrong paint can cause the bulbs (if it's the actual bulb you're painting) to explode.
If its the globe (and not the bulb) you're painting any type of glass paint should work fine. You could consider the fun idea of creating a sea glass look like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUYSt32XEWw
I realize this info is for light globes in general but hoping there is something you can use here (be careful):

Hello Gracie, Glass paint will work very well and you can do your own designs!
Glass paint should do the trick. If you get LED bulbs, they won't be hot and you won't need to worry. They've become really affordable.
Keep in mind that if you paint the glass globes, the amount of light coming through will be decreased considerably.
The thicker or darker the paint, the less light you will have.
Here's some glass paints you can get at Amazon:

You can use gallery glass paint that you can find at Michaels and other hobby stores
Hi Gracie,
Had you thought of using coloured Bulbs?
Hi Gracie, Glass paint is the best choice for this job. There are even glass paints available in spray paint cans. But if you decide to apply with a brush, use a medium brush. Apply one light coat and let it dry completely. If you want a more saturated color, apply another coat. Good luck Gracie.
DO NOT paint light bulbs. There is no safe product. Applying any paint to a lightbulb will act as a coat of insulation causing the inside of the bulb to get too hot and explode.
That’s a good question. The glass paints I’ve used for decorative paint jobs are baked on but not very transparent.
They do have aerosol sprays for frosted and see glass colors but that is more translucent than transparent.
Perhaps folks here will have some ideas about the stain glass paint and that possibility. I hope you find the perfect solution

I would be worried about alcohol combusting with the heat of the bulbs
If they are frosted, did you know that some of those frosted globes can be made clean by using acetone. The kind you get in Lowes or HD not nail polish remover. Try it at the top of the globe where it fits into the receptacle. You could use glass paint, or colored bulbs. It depends on the look you want.

Hello Gracie,
Maybe Glass Paint or Nail varnish, or even Colour added to Mod Podge! Had you thought to add a coloured bulb to the inside of the fitting rather than paint it?
