We had cabinets installed without hardware. Now we want handles and knobs but will need to put them on ourselves.
Either one will work, just be sure to use a masonry bit.
We’ve done it with a hammer drill.
Hello.
A Hammer Drill with a Masonry Bit. Hope that helps!
Larger holes are much easier to make with a hammer drill, which is a power drill that bores holes into brick and concrete using rapid hammer-like blows. These drills cost about $25 for four hours, but they get the job done in a fraction of the time and with far less physical effort.

you need a drill bit that works on stone or masonry
Whichever you go with, make sure you use a masonry drill bit for brick.

Home Depot and similar stores sell masonry drill bits

If you need a big hole say to put a thread bolt to hold a mantel piece I would opt for the Hammer drill, otherwise a masonry bit will do. If you are just trying to hang something on the brick they also make some plastic hooks with 3 pins you hammer in or there is also one that clips onto the brick.... https://www.amazon.com/s?k=plastic+hanger+for+brick&ref=nb_sb_noss
Those white plastic ones with the 3 pins I used on my brick fireplace to hang a large wooden carved seal for many years.... one hook did the job. And when you remove it you can't even tell where it was.

Use this drill bit for bricks
I would suggest you first read some guides on how to drill into brick. The type of drill generally depends upon the type of brick you got there and what type of space you have. Here is an article that explains everything in detail and helps you decide which type of drill you would need for your brick.
