Brick corbels
How do I jazz up these brick corbel? In the process of white washing the brick. I want it to stand out. Decor is modern/farmhouse, not too farmhouse. Any and all suggestions are appreciated. TIA

You could box them out with wood to match the wood above. That would be quite dramatic. Or you could whitewash them with the rest of the brick and then add a wood ornament to each as decor.
You could consider painting them a separate color or, instead of a wash, a solid white so they stand out against the brick behind them.
I would make them stand out as they were meant to be decorative. Try a contrasting medium grey lightly added like the whitewash.
Paint a different color or leave unpainted but color the mortar joints.
You can add monogram or some small decor item to them.
This is glass tiles i have
I would paint them a contrasting color.
If you paint them the same as the fireplace they will stand out against the wood mantel
Painting the corbel a darker color would make it stand out much more.
Consider what other colors you are using and work with that.
Hi! If you want them to stand out, use a darker color. Good luck!
I would paint them oil rubbed bronze. Rustoleum makes a beautiful ORB
Hello there,
Paint them using Brick/Masonry paint in a contrasting colour! Have fun.
How about using a gray paint on those and "gray wash them" or perhaps another color from your kitchen.
White washing is an amazing change. Your brick came out just like ours. have still not decided what to do with our "mantle"
I would cover them with wood to match the mantel. :)
Hello. I would suggest to cover with a thin wood veneer and paint it glossy black.
This is what i have done so far. Thoughts on this???
Hello Trish, continue with you white washing and think about doing the corbel in a charcoal grey.
The white washing looks great. keep it up. It may be a bit time consuming, but painting the morter with a darker grey perhaps...??
I like this. It’s subtle, but noticeable.
If you leave them as is against the white wash, they’ll stand out. Or wait until the wash is done, replace your decor then stand back and see how it looks. You might find it all works or you can get a brick stain if not.
As you've had several great suggestions,
To narrow it down:
Can you cut wood veneer successfully & stain it to match the mantel? Veneer cutting is a skill.
"Contrast, don't try to match and fail" - so what other paint colors are in the room?
looks great painted white.
I answered it & my complete instructions were “removed”
Trish, I’m going to keep this short & simple my easy & quick method would be to use ready made wood boxes - one to cover over each brick corbel. If you do a simple wood cover to each side it will give your existing mantel a more UPDATED & SUBSTANTIAL LOOK! Please don’t just settle for painting over the old fashioned brick ones, it will continue to take away from your lovely whitewash!
By the way, if you consider the wood box solution - one side of each box will need hammered out (easier to do this than start from scratch - you can play with stain matching before using your favorite strong adhesive to attach these fake cover!)
