Planter Update
So last year my fave shop was selling these half whiskey barrels and I just needed one for the garden - at first I wasnt sure what I was going to do with it!
then I decided that I would turn it into a planter and yes it took over a year of it sitting empty in the garden for me to do something with it !! I got plants for it last week & decided to sort it yesterday!!
Using a drill my hubby drilled some drainage holes in the bottom
Before I didn’t want to really change the colour as such just wanted to spruce it up a bit!!!
Found this guy in the shed!!! Thought it would do the job perfect!!!
I just used some kitchen towel - poured on the varnish
And gave it a rub!!!
And here it is freshened up!!!!
I carefully placed big stones over the holes we drilled so it can drain out easily!!!
Then put a layer of gravel in!!!
to add more soakage!
Filled with top soil
Place your plants in first to see where you want to put them
Then when your happy with the position - put more topsoil and 50/50 manure mix around them!!!
And here she is in all her glory can’t wait to watch her bloom. !
Enjoyed the project?

I cut up pool noodles and empty water bottles to lighten the pot and save on soil. Helps with drainage too

So you used top soil instead of potting soil ? It looks amazing :)
