Do you love coastal décor but not the price tag associated with it? If you do, then this simple to make Seashell Candle Holder is a wonderful DIY and only costs a few dollars to make, $5.00 to be exact if you get your supplies from the Dollar Tree.

I made this beach-inspired seashell candle holder with items I already had on hand including a vase from the Dollar Tree.

Supplies:

Glass Vase

Craft rope

Sand

Seashells

Pillar Candle

Hot glue gun

Instructions:

I started by washing my vase well and making sure there was no residue so that the hot glue would stick. You can wipe your glass vase with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol just to be sure your have a clean surface to work with.

Start at the bottom side of the vase and apply hot glue a little bit at a time attaching the rope to the vase as you go along. Wrap it up as high (or low) as you prefer.

Unfortunately, I only purchased one package of craft rope but wanted a little more on my candle holder so I used twine that I had on hand. I may go back and add more of the craft rope at some point.

Add the sand and insert a taper candle or pillar candle in the center pushing down to make sure it is secure. At this point, you can be all done if you would like OR you can glue some seashells to the top rim of the rope.

Below is another variation of a seashell candle holder I made a few years ago.

A smaller candle was used in this version and that allowed seashells to be placed inside of the vase/candle holder.

A starfish was propped in front of it and gave it a nice beachy vibe. I also placed some chandelier crystals around the rim that look so pretty when the light dances off of them. I bought mine at a local antique store but they have them on Amazon as well.

If a pillar candle was used, you can opt to use hot glue to add seashells around the top rim of the rope.

There you have it ~ a 5 minute start to finish Seashell Rope Wrapped Hurricane Candle Holder that’s great for indoor or outdoor entertaining.

I also made some tassels out of a mop head and glued those around the rim as well. I’ll be sharing that simple tutorial soon.

Could you just give me a rough idea on how to make those tassels? I would really appreciate it.

Just basically give me the short version.

    Thanks again

Finally!!! A diy that is fun & beachy looking without overkill or looking cheap & cheesy!

I like tapers, but seldom use them because of the fire hazard, especially in summer with the AC blowing. Your use of a hurricane type container takes care of that, & the sand is nature’s fire extinguisher if ever needed.

    Nicely done, Miss Mary Beth!

Very nice I really like the taper candle. Really looks like a high end decoration.
