Last year we had a concrete pad poured and I knew I wanted to do something fun with it.

As soon as we started getting nice weather, I got to work.

Here’s a pic of the concrete pad before I got to work.

The first thing we did was move the shelter off and give it a good cleaning with the pressure washer.

For this project I used:

Nola Tile Stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils (I did alter it by cutting out the lines as I was using a textured paint that bled)

Here’s a link for so many amazing stencils!!

Rustoleum Stoneffects Slate Grey as the base color

Rustoleum Stoneffects Silver Beach as the stencil color

Rustoleum Stoneffects Sealer

I loved how the stencil came with line up points on the edges which made it easy to line up the stencil and make a straight pattern.

Once I got the hang of it, it ended up going faster. I found it easier to work with a small stencil brush instead of rolling. The paint I used was a textured paint- almost a glue like substance with sand.

Having a few starting points is helpful to continue while some are wet. The sun helped to dry these pretty fast and I didn’t do a thick coat of paint.

I love how the paint dried and gave the look of aged tiles. The paint product used also is a non-slip finish which is great.

I’m so proud of this project!!

Would you stencil?

How is it holding up! Some reviews say it starts peeling in spots after one season.

Did you use any kind of sealer, something to prevent it from peeling. I love this

Where did you get the stencil?
