I've found that with house plants, once they get established, it is easy to fall into a routine and forget about maintenance. At least in my case that is what usually happens. I've had plants in the same planter for years. They have survived moves to different cities even across state lines. That hardiness and survival instincts does help them stay afloat even at times of pure negligence. This Chinese Evergreen for example has been with me for the last 14 years in the same planter complete with the original soil! I know that is a crime to do to any plant but sometimes things just get sidetracked. So this summer I decided enough was enough and went about dividing all my established house plants.
There was enough plant to make for 3 planters!
I kept two and gave one away to a friend. What better way to spread some plant love! See the detailed how to at the link provided below.
