My latest HUGE DIY wall art. Cost me only $4!

We needed a large piece of art for the focal wall that the crib was on in my sister's nursery. We the budget we had, I knew we would have to find something for free and work off of it. We were so lucky to find these large window casings outside a neighbors house for free! I added cards from the craft store dollar section for the side. I love the pattern it created.

The shape outline of the cards is interesting, but for a child's room, I would add a little more color on top of the grey, in blues to tie in the frame, and yellows to add additional energy to the wall art.
A free! source of colorful paper pieces stiff enough to be cut into shapes (or letters) for crafts is paint chips.
