Painted old hardwood floors in a whitewashed checkerboard

Refinishing wasn't an option, so I painted our old and scratched hardwood floors in our foyer in a grayish-blue and white whitewash checkerboard pattern. Will they stand up to my 2 goldens and 2 little boys? Only time will tell, but so far, so good!
Enjoyed the project?

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
What did you do to keep the wood grain showing? How did you keep 'transparency' (for lack of a better term)? Did you use a brush or a roller? Did you sand before hand ? Sorry i want to do this and my husband has many questions
What paint did you use?
I would love to see the details of this beautiful project! But it seems the link to your blog post, the blue "GO" button above, goes to an old website. Could you please update the link. I'd love to get the "how-to" story.
THANK YOU!
