Recycled Sauce Jars to Spice Jars

It's easy to turn recycled jars into useful matching storage jars. These pasta sauce jars are the perfect size for spices that you purchase in bulk.
While I was storing bins in the garage, I discovered I had saved several pasta sauce jars that all matched. Hooray for matchy-matchy! They’re a nice size for the spices that I tend to buy in bulk and which usually come in huge unattractive plastic containers.
After I cleaned out the jars, I spray painted the lids with Rustoleum Hammered Metal spray paint. The first time I used this product I don’t think I shook the can enough or the weather may have been too cold and it resulted in plain gold paint. This time I was successful. Note – it was the same can of paint so it was definitely user error. I love the hammered metal look.
Add your spices and you have a new set of pretty spice jars. Much better than those huge plastic containers.

Dixie Stoll on Feb 20, 2017I've been doing this for over 50 years, not with spices but with buttons. Separate them by number of holes (usually 1 or 2) and then by color.
